He was the first surgeon who recognized the importance of Robotics in Joint Replacement Surgery in the Mid South. He was instrumental in bringing Mako Robot to St Francis Hospital in 2011. Since then he has done over 2,500 joint replacements using Mako Robot. He is the most experienced Joint Replacement Surgeon in Midsouth area.

Dr. Dalal also uses other techniques which involves use of patient specific implants such as Conformis knee replacement and use of Visionaire guide.

He also has full Staff privileges at all Methodist Hospitals, St Francis Hospitals, and Baptist Surgery Centers. He has an active medical license in Tennessee and Mississippi.

He has lived in East Memphis TN for over 25 years and has been married for over 35 years. His wife is also a physician and works alongside him. They have one son together who attends college at this time.

When Dr. Dalal is not working he loves to cook and enjoys going on walks at Shelby Farms.

  • Residency Training in Orthopaedic Surgery — Comprehensive orthopedic surgery residency covering reconstructive techniques, trauma surgery, and complex bone pathology.
  • Fellowship in Joint Reconstruction & Replacement — Advanced subspecialty fellowship focused on primary and complex revision hip and knee reconstruction.
  • Fellowship in Sports Surgery & Arthroscopy — Fellowship training in sports medicine, minimally invasive joint arthroscopy, ligament reconstruction, and tendon repair.

Pioneering Robotic Joint Replacement in the Mid-South

In 2011, Dr. Dalal recognized that robotic technology offered transformative accuracy for joint replacement patients. He was instrumental in introducing the Mako robotic-arm assisted surgical system to St. Francis Hospital, becoming the first surgeon in the region to perform robotic-assisted joint replacements.

Across more than 2,500 robotic surgeries, Dr. Dalal has utilized 3D CT scan modeling to tailor implant positioning within fractions of a millimeter, helping patients retain healthy bone and recover with natural joint stability. In addition, Dr. Dalal provides patient-specific custom implants including Conformis knee replacements and Visionaire patient-matched cutting guides.
