Physician Assistant • Orthopedic Surgery & Joint Reconstruction

Abby was born and raised in Yorkville Illinois which is about an hour outside of Chicago. She then went on to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Physiology at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. After graduating, she decided to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant.

She attended the University of Tennessee Health Science Center right here in Memphis! She fell in love with orthopedic surgery and enjoys joint replacements. She works alongside Dr. Dalal in surgery.

Abby is fun loving, compassionate, and professional. When she is not at work, she likes listening to country music, visiting local breweries or wineries, and reading books.

Education & Medical Training

Abby brings rigorous academic training in human physiology, advanced diagnostics, and surgical assisting to Tri-State Orthopaedics:

  • Bachelor of Science in Physiology — Southern Illinois University (Carbondale, IL). Extensive foundation in biomechanics, muscle physiology, and anatomical function.
  • Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies — University of Tennessee Health Science Center (Memphis, TN). Advanced didactic and clinical rotations in orthopedic surgery, trauma, emergency medicine, and inpatient care.
  • National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) — Nationally certified Physician Assistant with regular continuing medical education in musculoskeletal medicine.
  • State Licensure — Actively licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of Tennessee.

Clinical Responsibilities & Surgical Assisting

Abby works in direct partnership with Dr. Dalal to provide comprehensive, individualized orthopedic care:

  • Surgical First Assisting: Works side-by-side with Dr. Dalal in the operating suite during Mako robotic total knee and hip replacements, partial joint replacements, and arthroscopic procedures.
  • Patient Evaluations & Diagnostics: Conducts detailed physical examinations, evaluates orthopedic pain, interprets X-rays and MRI scans, and develops personalized non-surgical treatment plans.
  • Therapeutic Joint Injections: Administers in-office joint injections (including corticosteroid and viscosupplementation therapies) and performs joint aspirations for symptom relief and diagnosis.
  • Post-Operative Care & Follow-Up: Evaluates incision healing, removes surgical staples and sutures, monitors recovery progress, and coordinates post-operative physical therapy programs.

Whether guiding someone through their pre-surgery preparations or celebrating milestones during recovery, she brings warmth and professionalism to every interaction.
